Lodestone Energy's $60 million Kohirā solar farm near Kaitaia was New Zealand's largest solar installation when it began operations in November 2023. The 23.7 MW project comprises 61,236 bi-facial panels and innovative 2P single-axis trackers to generate 55 GWh annually. It was scoped, designed, and built inside three years to deliver a project that combines renewable energy with ongoing grazing on the 82-hectare site, and employed at peak more than 140 tradespeople and installers – many of them locals.
