Mataura Valley Milk's Project Recharge has demonstrated an effective role for high-pressure electrode boilers in dairy processing globally.
Adopting the high-pressure technology, untried in New Zealand, allowed the firm to completely end its coal use last year, reducing its carbon emissions by about 22,000 tonnes a year.
The project also included several design improvements that will now become standard for similar boilers here, improving process and machine safety and ensuring the units can cope with the dairy industry’s demanding utilisation across a range of operating loads.
