BlueFloat Energy and Elemental Group committed to living by their values
BlueFloat Energy New Zealand and Elemental Group are proud to be getting behind the local energy sector and instigating a new award for 2023: the Social Procurement Award. Social procurement describes using procurement as a tool to provide enduring positive benefits for communities, supplier employees, and the environment.
BlueFloat Energy country manager for New Zealand Nathan Turner says “we have a real opportunity to develop the offshore wind industry in a different way – one that celebrates good social procurement practice and delivers benefits to our communities, the environment and our employees.”
BlueFloat Energy and local company Elemental Group, who have partnered to develop offshore wind energy in Aotearoa, are keen to ensure they are living by their values, as their projects and the industry develop.
“A good example of how we are living by our values is that both companies recently signed up to the Procure Taranaki Charter – a voluntary code which encourages business to consider local options in all of their procurement decisions, promoting regional development and fostering community wellbeing, resilience and sustainability,” says Elemental Group director Nick Jackson.
“In Waikato where we are developing a 1 GW+ offshore wind farm we have partnered with regional economic development agency Te Waka to help build a renewable energy future for the Waikato region. Through our relationship with Te Waka and our procurement, we aim to work collaboratively with local iwi, community and businesses to ensure our project gives back to our host communities,” says partnerships director Justine Gilliland.
BlueFloat Energy and Elemental Group are the category sponsors for the newly introduced Social Procurement Award at this year's New Zealand Energy Excellence Awards.
