Powershop

Meridian Energy’s subsidiary, Powershop is the world’s first fully functional mobile power company. Its mobile app allows customers to do everything from purchasing energy to tracking their daily usage.

Powershop also introduced the industry’s first retail savings guarantee. It provides a savings figure at the point a customer switches and if this is not met the company refunds the difference between what they paid and the guaranteed savings amount. This saw it achieve a 78% rating in the competitive pricing category in the Consumer New Zealand survey.

Powershop is one of the few retailers to increase its overall satisfaction rating in the survey - up by 4% year on year. The company also scored 95% in the ‘access to energy use information’ category.

Customer comments include “Powershop’s model leaves me feeling very much in control” and “Best online energy information and superior app for every aspect of power use”.
